- DRDO has successfully completed the long-duration ground test of a scramjet engine.
- The long-duration ground test of the actively cooled, full-scale scramjet engine is a significant achievement in the development of hypersonic weapons.
- The test was conducted at the Scramjet Connect Pipe Test (SCPT) facility of the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) in Hyderabad.
- The test lasted for over 12 minutes.
- A sub-scale long-duration test was also conducted on April 25, 2025.
- DRDL designed and developed both the combustor and the test facility.
- With this test, India has joined a select group of countries with advanced hypersonic capabilities.
