- According to the announcement made by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, India is likely to get its first bullet train on August 15, 2027.
- He stated that India's first bullet train project is under construction between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
- The first section of this project, from Surat to Bilimora, will be opened first.
- Following the Surat to Bilimora section, the Vapi to Surat section will be opened.
- After that, the Vapi to Ahmedabad section will be opened. Then the Thane to Ahmedabad section will be opened, and finally, the Mumbai to Ahmedabad section will be opened.
- The National High-Speed Rail Corporation is constructing the 508-kilometer-long corridor.
- Upon completion, the corridor will have 12 stations, including Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati.
- The bullet train will take 1 hour and 58 minutes to cover the distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
