Mizoram has been declared the 'Ginger Capital of India'

  • NITI Aayog has officially declared Mizoram the ginger capital based on the rapid increase in ginger production.
  • This also reflects the high quality of ginger produced in Mizoram.
  • Chief Minister Lalduhoma attributed this achievement to the continuous efforts of the farmers.
  • The Chief Minister said that ginger has given Mizoram a unique identity at the national level.
  • The Chief Minister inaugurated a ginger processing unit established at the Sairang Horticulture Centre, about 21 kilometers from Aizawl.
  • Lalduhoma said that passion fruit also has strong income-generating potential and the government will promote passion fruit cultivation more widely.
  • According to the Mizoram Agriculture Marketing Board, more than 3.38 crore kilograms of ginger were procured in 2025.
