The new Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court

  • The central government has approved the appointment of Justice Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
  • According to a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice, the approval was given by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
  • Justice Sonak, who currently serves as a judge of the Bombay High Court, will assume office after the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice.
  • He will take charge on the 8th of this month, following the retirement of the current Chief Justice.
  • This appointment has been made on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.
  • His appointment is for a fixed term of two years.
