• In tennis, American player Venus Williams will become the oldest woman to play in the main draw of the Australian Open at the age of 45.

• She is a seven-time Grand Slam champion. She has been given a wildcard entry into the women's singles tournament.

• The tournament is scheduled to begin on January 18.

• With this, Venus Williams will break the previous age record held by Japan's Kimiko Date.

• Kimiko Date participated in the Australian Open in 2015 when she was 44 years old.

• Venus Williams has not played any tournaments outside the United States since 2023.
