- The government says the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme has evolved from a policy initiative to a nationwide movement.
- This change has been achieved through the active participation of government agencies, communities, civil society, the media, and the public.
- Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi stated in the Lok Sabha that the national sex ratio at birth has increased from 918 in 2014-15 to 929 in 2024-25.
- She also stated that the gross enrolment ratio of girls at the secondary school level has increased from 75.51% in 2014-15 to 80.2% in 2024-25.
- She said that funds are allocated to districts based on the status of the sex ratio at birth (SRB) in those districts, as per the HMIS data of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for 2020-21.
- This scheme was launched on 22 January 2015 to address the declining child sex ratio and gender-based discrimination.
