Prime Minister's Office renamed as 'Seva Teerth'

  • The new Prime Minister's Office, 'Seva Tirtha', and Central Secretariat buildings were inaugurated.
  • The Prime Minister inaugurated the new Prime Minister's Office, 'Seva Tirtha', on February 13, 2026.
  • The Central Secretariat buildings, Kartavya Bhawan 1 and 2, were also formally inaugurated.
  • The last Union Cabinet meeting was held in South Block before the historic relocation.
  • The vacating of the iconic North and South Blocks marks the end of an era.
  • The North and South Blocks were originally designed by Herbert Baker and housed the offices of the British administration before 1947.
  • The Prime Minister's Office, along with key ministries, is being relocated to the newly constructed Seva Tirtha complex.
  • The new complex will also house the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat.
  • Kartavy Bhawan 1 and 2 will house several ministries, including finance, defence, health, education, and agriculture.
