Sagar Exercise

• To reaffirm India's commitment to collaborative maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region, the second edition of the 'Sagar' (IOS) exercise was inaugurated in the Indian Ocean on March 16.

• The Sagar exercise builds upon India's long-standing maritime cooperation efforts and is guided by the government's vision of 'Security and Growth for All in the Region' (SAGAR).

• This exercise also contributes to the broader framework of fostering mutual and holistic security advancements within the region.

• The objective of this initiative is to provide naval personnel from friendly nations with the opportunity to train and sail together aboard an Indian Navy ship.

• To enhance practical cooperation and interoperability, international participants are integrated into the shipboard activities and professional training modules.
