World Wildlife Day

• World Wildlife Day is celebrated every year on March 3 to raise awareness about the conservation of wildlife and plants.

• On December 20, 2013, the United Nations General Assembly declared March 3 as UN World Wildlife Day.

• In 1973, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was signed on March 3.

• The day was first celebrated in 2014.

• The theme for World Wildlife Day 2026 is "Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods".
