  • In 1973, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was signed on March 3.
  • The day was first celebrated in 2014.
  • The theme for World Wildlife Day 2026 is "Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods".
