Aviation Security: Agreement between BCAS and RRU

  • On April 6, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) to establish a dedicated indigenous testing center for aviation security equipment.
  • This agreement was formally concluded in New Delhi in the presence of Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and other senior officials.
  • The objective of this initiative is to enable the testing, evaluation, and certification of full-body scanners and related screening equipment used at airports.
  • Through this partnership, a formal institutional framework has been established for collaboration in research, certification, training, and standards development.
  • A dedicated testing center will be set up at the RRU to conduct testing and evaluation in accordance with regulatory directives.
  • Equipment supplied by manufacturers will undergo independent evaluation and certification to ensure compliance with the requisite standards.
  • Emphasis has been placed on the development of an indigenous certification system aligned with global practices, such as those of the TSA and ECAC.
