Ministry of Defence–BEL ₹1,950 Crore Radar Deal

  • The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth ₹1,950 crore with Bharat Electronics Limited for the procurement of mountain radars.
  • This agreement was concluded in New Delhi under the 'Buy (Indian-IDDM)' (Indigenously Designed, Developed, and Manufactured) category.
  • This procurement aligns with the objectives of the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' initiatives.
  • Under this contract, two advanced mountain radar systems will be provided to the Indian Air Force.
  • These radars have been designed and developed by the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), a laboratory under the DRDO.
  • These radar systems will be manufactured domestically by Bharat Electronics Limited.
