- The national celebration of International Biodiversity Day 2026 was held at the Indian Institute of Forest Management in Bhopal.
- The event was presided over by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav.
- The theme of the program was—"Acting Locally for Global Impact."
- On this occasion, emphasis was placed on biodiversity conservation, Project Cheetah, ecological restoration, and community participation.
- Describing Madhya Pradesh as a leading hub for biodiversity and wildlife conservation, the Chief Minister termed the reintroduction of cheetahs a historic achievement.
- The Union Minister stated that global environmental goals can only be achieved through the participation of local communities.
- The program featured discussions on the Biodiversity Act, 2002; Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs); the conservation of traditional knowledge; and the achievements of 'Project Cheetah.'
- Additionally, several reports, films, and digital portals were released, and a fleet of bicycles and a rescue vehicle belonging to the State Forest Department were flagged off.
