- Andhra Pradesh has achieved a major breakthrough in the semiconductor manufacturing sector. Visakhapatnam (Vizag) has been selected as the location for the state's first semiconductor project under the India Semiconductor Mission.
- This project will be developed by Advanced System-in-Package Technologies Private Limited, involving the establishment of a state-of-the-art Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility.
- This initiative is considered a significant step towards securing a strong position for India in the global electronics and chip manufacturing supply chain.
- The proposed plant will be set up in Tarluvada village, located in the Anandapuram Mandal of Visakhapatnam district.
- The total estimated cost of the project is ₹2,387.81 crore, and it will be developed in two phases. An investment of ₹542.19 crore will be made in the first phase, while ₹1,845.61 crore has been allocated for the second phase.
- This project will boost high-tech industries in the region, create new employment opportunities, and enable Andhra Pradesh to emerge as a key hub for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
- Additionally, this initiative will strengthen efforts to develop self-reliant chip manufacturing capabilities within the country.
