  • The Indian Navy's renowned helicopter squadron, Indian Naval Air Squadron 330 (INAS 330)—known as "The Harpoons"—was officially decommissioned on June 14, 2026.
  • This marked the conclusion of a significant chapter for both this prestigious squadron, which served the Indian Navy for 55 years, and the Sea King Mk 42B helicopters.
  • INAS 330 was established on April 17, 1971, at INS Garuda in Kochi, Kerala. Initially, it was commanded by Commander M.P. Wadhawan.
  • Since its inception, the squadron remained an integral part of the Indian Navy's maritime surveillance, combat missions, and security operations.
  • The squadron primarily operated Sea King Mk 42B helicopters.
  • These helicopters were specifically utilized for maritime warfare, anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue operations, and surveillance missions.
