International Day of Women Diplomats, 2026

• The United Nations (UN) observes the International Day of Women in Diplomacy on June 24 every year.

• This day is dedicated to honoring the significant contributions of women to international relations and diplomacy, and to advocating for their equal participation in global peacebuilding.

• Status of women in diplomacy – Historical origin: The UN General Assembly established this special day by passing a resolution in 2022.

• Current participation: Women's participation in peace processes and diplomatic negotiations at the international level has historically been low (comprising only 6% of mediators and 13% of negotiators).
