- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh felicitated nine female officers of the Indian Armed Forces who made history by successfully completing 'Samudra Pradakshina'—the first-ever tri-service (Army, Navy, and Air Force) all-women global circumnavigation sailing expedition.
- As part of this expedition, the officers undertook a challenging voyage of approximately 25,500 nautical miles over 314 days aboard the Indian sailing vessel IASV Triveni.
- During the journey, they traversed four oceans, crossed the Equator twice, and also crossed the International Date Line.
- This historic voyage commenced on September 11, 2025, with a virtual flag-off from the Gateway of India in Mumbai. Following the expedition's success, a virtual flag-in ceremony for the team was held in Mumbai on July 22, 2026.
- A global circumnavigation sailing expedition is not merely about covering a long distance; it requires traversing all longitudes of the Earth and crossing the Equator at least once.
- By successfully meeting all these criteria, the team demonstrated the competence, courage, and maritime skills of female officers in the Indian Armed Forces in an exemplary manner.
