Irani Cup to be held at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium

• Jammu and Kashmir will host the Irani Cup at Srinagar's Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium from October 1 to October 5, 2026.

• In this five-day first-class match, the Jammu and Kashmir team will face the Rest of India.

• This event is considered a significant milestone in the cricketing history of Jammu and Kashmir. It will not only showcase the region's growing stature in domestic cricket but also put Srinagar's hosting capabilities to the test.

• To prepare the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium—which has a seating capacity of approximately 5,000—for television broadcasting, facilities such as commentary and media boxes and live telecast infrastructure will need to be set up, alongside additional arrangements for spectators. This will also provide an opportunity to upgrade the stadium's infrastructure.

• Srinagar previously hosted an ODI match between India and Australia on September 9, 1986. The return of a high-profile cricket event after nearly four decades holds special significance for cricket enthusiasts in Jammu and Kashmir.
