- Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young batter from the East Zone, has made history in the Duleep Trophy.
- At the age of just 15 years and 157 days, he set the record for the youngest player to score a half-century in the history of the Duleep Trophy.
- He achieved this feat during a semi-final match against the Central Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on August 31, 2026.
- Vaibhav Suryavanshi completed his half-century in just 42 balls.
- He continued to score rapidly thereafter, playing a magnificent innings of 92 runs off 81 balls. His innings included seven fours and seven sixes.
- However, he fell just eight runs short of a century, getting out on a score of 92.
- With this innings, Suryavanshi broke a 57-year-old Duleep Trophy record.
- Previously, the record for the youngest half-centurion was held by Laxman Singh, who scored a half-century in the tournament in January 1969 at the age of 16 years and 23 days.
- Now, by scoring a half-century at the age of 15 years and 157 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has claimed that record for himself.
- His explosive batting not only earned him a place in the record books but also gave the East Zone a brilliant start in the match.
