- The 20th edition of the bilateral naval exercise 'Varuna' between the Indian and French Navies is being conducted in the Arabian Sea from 30 March to 03 April 2022.
- The bilateral naval exercise between the two navies started in the year 1993.
- The exercise was named 'Varuna' in the year 2001 and has become an important part of Indo-French strategic bilateral relations.
- Various contingents including ships, submarines, maritime patrol aircraft, fighter jets and helicopters of both the navies are participating in the exercise.
