Bihar Caste-based Census

• The government of Bihar will soon be conducting a caste-based census in the state. 

• This decision was taken at an all-party meeting that was chaired by Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of the state on 1st June 2022.

• The Chief Minister announced that the exercise would be named Jaati Aadharit Ganana. 

• The decision to go ahead with this exercise was unanimously taken by all the political parties of the state that were present at the meeting, including the BJP. 

• The state government will be ensuring that the entire exercise is completed within a stipulated time.

• This census will be conducted for people belonging to every caste and religion.
