- Following Ankara's request for change, the United Nations changed the name of the Republic of Turkey's country from "Turkey" to "Turkey" in the organization.
- UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric was requested by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in an address to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, requesting the use of "Turkish" instead of "Turkish" for all cases.
- Turkey began the move to change its internationally recognized official name in English to Turkiye in December after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued a memorandum.
