World Archery Para Series

  • India is set to host a stage of the World Archery Para Series for the first time.
  • The event will be held from September 5 to 9, 2026, at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
  • This will be the third stage of the 2026 World Archery Para Series.
  • In this international competition, para-archers will compete in the Recurve Open, Compound Open, W1, and Visually Impaired categories.
  • Hosting a competition of this caliber in India reflects the growing influence and popularity of para-archery in the country.
  • To prepare for the event, a 29-member Indian squad underwent specialized training from August 23 to September 2 at the SAI National Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar.
  • The Indian contingent includes prominent athletes such as Paris 2024 Paralympic medalists Harvinder Singh, Sheetal Devi, and Rakesh Kumar.
  • Eleven archers from the Indian team have also been selected for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan.
  • Consequently, the Ahmedabad event will serve as a crucial opportunity for the athletes to test their preparations at the international level and find their rhythm ahead of major competitions.
