Indian Army's first female soldier skydiver

  • Lance Naik Manju became the first woman soldier skydiver of the Indian Army.
  • He jumped from a height of 10,000 feet on 15 November 2022.
  • He jumped from an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv helicopter.
  • She belonged to the Eastern Command of the Military Police Corps.
  • The skydiving training team of the Adventure Wing of the Indian Army trained him for the jump.
  • The Army Adventure Wing is part of the Indian Army under the Directorate General of Military Training. It plans, coordinates and promotes the adventure activities of the Indian Army.
  • In May 2022, Captain Abhilasha Barak became the first woman officer to join the Army Aviation Corps as a combat aviator.
  • Last year, Maavya Sudan became the first woman from Jammu and Kashmir to become a fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force.
