- On 7 November, the Central Government appointed Justice Rituraj Awasthi, Chief Justice of the retired High Court of Karnataka as the Chairman of the 22nd Law Commission.
- He has been appointed for the 22nd Law Commission along with other five members.
- Other members of the Commission include Justice Katie Shankaran, Prof. Anand Paliwal, Prof. DP Verma, Prof. (Dr.) Raka Arya and M. Karunanidhi.
- Justice Awasthi took charge as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court from 11 October 2021 to July 2, 2022.
