- It also coincides with India’s assumption of the presidency of the G20, where it will become the voice of the Global South, comprising developing countries in Asia, Africa, and South America.
- National Science Day was first celebrated in India in 1986, following a request by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) to the Government of India.
