National Science Day 2023

• Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh recently announced the theme for National Science Day 2023: “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”. 

• This year’s theme highlights India’s emerging role on the global stage and its increasing visibility in the international community.

• The theme of “Global Science for Global Wellbeing” reflects the importance of science in addressing global issues and promoting wellbeing worldwide. 

• It also coincides with India’s assumption of the presidency of the G20, where it will become the voice of the Global South, comprising developing countries in Asia, Africa, and South America.

• National Science Day was first celebrated in India in 1986, following a request by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) to the Government of India.
