India's first hybrid rocket Pattipulam

  • India's first hybrid rocket by private pioneers has been launched from Pattipulam, Tamil Nadu.
  • It was launched in the presence of Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Puducherry Lieutenant Governor.
  • Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Satellite Launch Vehicle Mission- 2023 has been launched by Martin Foundation in association with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation and Space Zone India.
  • 5,000 students were involved in the project. The selected students designed and built a student satellite launch vehicle (rocket).
  • The student contingent consisted of 200 people from the fishermen community of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
  • Students not only learned about satellite technology, but also about science, technology, engineering and math.
  • The reusable rocket made by the selected 100 students can be used for research in weather, atmospheric conditions and radiation.
