- mPassport Police App has been launched by the Ministry of External Affairs for speedy police verification of passports.
- With the help of the app, police personnel can submit digital and paperless verification reports through mobile tablets.
- It will reduce the verification time from 15 to five days. This will reduce the time for issuing passports by about 10 days.
- The app has been launched for Delhi Police jurisdiction only.
- Integration of DigiLocker with Passport Seva Program will allow citizens to submit their documents in paperless mode.
- This will eliminate the need to carry the original documents to the Passport Kendra.
- The Department of Posts has set up Post Office Passport Seva Kendras across the country.
- Presently, there are 555 Passport Kendras across the country.
