Regional Search and Rescue (SAR) Exercise

  • Area Search and Rescue (SAR) exercise was conducted by the Indian Coast Guard during 28-29 March 2023 at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
  • The objective of the exercise was to create a simulated situation resembling a real contemporary maritime disaster scenario.
  • It was also aimed at highlighting the working methods of Search and Rescue (SAR) organization for conducting large scale rescue operations.
  • All the stakeholders were efficiently involved in the exercise with effective utilization of resources available for M-SAR (Maritime Search and Rescue) contingency.
  • The offshore area of Kakinada was chosen as the site for the exercise due to large scale production and exploration activities in the Krishna Godavari basin.
