India re-elected as member of United Nations Peacebuilding Commission

• India has been re-elected to the UN Peacebuilding Commission for the term 2025-2026.

• Since the establishment of the Peacebuilding Commission in December 2005, India has been its member.

• The Peacebuilding Commission is an inter-governmental advisory body.

• It strengthens the larger peace agenda of the international community and assists peace initiatives in countries affected by conflict.

• It was established in 2005. It was tasked with advising the UN General Assembly and the Security Council on matters of peacebuilding and peacekeeping.
