Senior Citizens Commission

• Kerala has become the first Indian state to set up a Senior Citizens Commission.

• The commission will address the difficulties faced by the elderly, including neglect, exploitation and loneliness.

• The commission will play a leading role in implementing initiatives to utilise the skills of senior citizens for the benefit of society.

• This new commission will focus on protection of rights, welfare and rehabilitation of the elderly.
