- On September 1, the 14th edition of the joint military exercise, Maitree-XIV, between the armies of India and Thailand began at the Joint Training Centre in Umroi, Meghalaya.
- The exercise will be conducted from September 1 to September 14, 2025.
- The exercise is part of the regular military-to-military exchange programme between the two countries aimed at enhancing interoperability and mutual understanding.
- The previous edition of Exercise Maitree was conducted at Fort Wachirapaksan in Tak Province, Thailand.
- A contingent of 120 Indian military personnel from a battalion of the Madras Regiment has been deployed for the exercise.
- 53 soldiers from the 1st Infantry Battalion, 14th Infantry Brigade of the Royal Thai Army have also ensured participation.
- This year, the exercise is designed to focus on company-level counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
