  • It is celebrated on the birthday of educationist and former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
  • Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President of India (1952-1962).
  • He became the second President of India (1962-1967). He was born on 5 September 1888.
  • Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1954 and the Templeton Prize in 1975.
  • His philosophy was based on Advaita Vedanta and he wrote books like The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore, The Hindu View of Life, Recovery of Faith.
