India-Israel Free Trade Agreement

  • On November 20, the terms of reference guiding negotiations for the India-Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA) were formally signed.
  • Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Israeli Economy and Industry Minister Nir Barkat signed the agreement.
  • The agreement is considered a significant first step towards a balanced and comprehensive FTA.
  • Goyal is in Israel until November 22 with a 60-member business delegation to consider ways to expand bilateral trade.
  • He said the aim is to diversify and expand trade by identifying new areas of cooperation and addressing regional sensitivities.
