"Farm to Home" Scheme Approved in Andhra Pradesh

  • The Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to implement a "Farm-to-Home" model to foster direct interaction between farmers and consumers.
  • Under this initiative, fruits and vegetables produced by farmers will be delivered directly to consumers, bypassing intermediaries.
  • The government aims to ensure better prices for farmers' produce while making fresh agricultural products available to the public at reasonable rates.
  • The "Farm-to-Home" model is an agricultural marketing mechanism wherein produce travels directly from farmers to customers.
  • Farmers' Producer Organizations (FPOs) will play a pivotal role in this system. Acting as collective bodies for farmers, these organizations will assume responsibility for the aggregation, transportation, marketing, and doorstep delivery of the produce.
  • Through FPOs, farmers' market access will be strengthened, and their bargaining power will also be enhanced.
  • This is expected to increase the likelihood of farmers—particularly small and marginal farmers—realizing greater profits from their produce.
