- The Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) booster technology was successfully test fired by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on 08 April 2022 at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur off the Odisha coast.
- During this, the complex missile system used for the test successfully demonstrated the reliable functioning of all the critical components and met all the mission objectives.
- SFDR-based propulsion enables missiles to intercept airborne threats over very long distances at supersonic speeds.
- The successful performance of this system has been confirmed by the data acquired by several range instruments like Telemetry, Radar and Electro Optical Tracking System deployed by ITR.
- SFDR has been developed by Defense Research and Development Laboratory, Hyderabad in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories such as Research Center Imarat, Hyderabad and High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Pune.
