World Population Day 2025

• World Population Day is observed every year on 11 July to spread awareness about population-related issues across the world.

• The theme of World Population Day 2025 is "Empowering young people to build the families they want in a fair and hopeful world."

• The then Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme established World Population Day in 1989.

• The day was established as a result of public interest in the Five Billion Population Day, which was celebrated on 11 July 1987.

• The day was first celebrated on 11 July 1990. In December 1990, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) decided to continue celebrating World Population Day.
