World Civil Defence Day

• World Civil Defence Day is observed annually on 1 March to raise awareness of civil defence, disaster preparedness and emergency response.

• The day is celebrated by the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), which was founded in 1931.

• The theme of World Civil Defence Day 2025 is "Civil Defence, Guarantee of the Safety of the Population".

• The International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) is an intergovernmental organisation aimed at ensuring the protection and assistance of the population during natural and man-made disasters. The organisation promotes cooperation and mutual assistance among member countries.

• In India, Civil Defence Day is celebrated on 6 December, which is the anniversary of the establishment of the Civil Defence Organisation in 1962.
